¡Viernes es el noche para karaoke!

I was pretty proud of my karaoke outfit... I bought the skirt for like, €2000, or 4 bucks. Too bad I didn´t know that my shoes, which I bought here because I didn´t bring any pretty shoes with me, were going to break. Oh well. Pura Vida.

Two of the teachers, Deidy (in green) and Marietta (in black) singing some karaoke.
Deidy and Jake singing a song in spanish. I just love his facial expression!!!

These kids are part of Villareal´s town band. Every day, they practice their drum sequence for the upcoming July 25th Guanacaste Independence Day celebration. These kids were laughing at me for taking a picture of them from my bedroom window.

Una perrita, una gatito, y una fiesta de cumpleanos para Ronny.

This puppy was just too effing cute. :)

More pictures of the adorable kitten. :)

Vacas that didn't try to kill me.

It was one of the high school kid's, Ronny's, birthday today. He turned 17. There was a pinata.

Lya and me. She's my new friend. :)
Poor Lya... the first day she was here, she was riding a bicycle without breaks, went down a hill, and broke her hand.

Michael Jackson se murio hoy.

Mmmm... yummy sugary, sticky goodness. These are like Costa Rican donuts, but waaaay better.

One of my new friends, Marie, who is from London.

I have no idea what this was, but it was a bright blue substance in the water and it looked rather strange.

Yesterday, we went to a beach called Playa Conchal. It's named after the fact that the whole beach is COVERED in shells. (see last entry) These are the few pictures I took.
One of the boys pulled a hermit crab out of it's shell. Not long after these pictures, it died. :(

Scenery. :)

Dengue fever.

After the beach, we went to a small restaurant on the beach. They had a Christmas decoration as a welcome sign for their customers and I had to take a picture.

My food. I was soooo hungry and it looked amazing.

This is a picture of the shells I found that day. The colors are striking. They don't make em like that in Florida.

A really freaking huge iguana.

One of these days, I think I might get a group of people to swim out to this island with me. Several people have done it, and it doesn't sound too incredibly bad.

I got TWO pictures of a butterfly. :)

Playa Conchal y muchas olas grandes

Today, I went to Playa Conchal, which is this really amazing beach covered in shells. Like... there is no sand, only shells. I collected a whole bunch and I found some really interesting ones, that's for sure. You wouldn't believe some of the colors I found on these sea shells. I even found a piece of sea glass!

The waves at Playa Conchal were HUGE. I wish I had thought to take a picture or a video of these waves... they were positively enourmous. Imagine a car. A really big car. And then imagine a wave that could probably total that car. That's how big the waves were. And I went in the water. It was so great! It was like riding a roller coaster. The rip tide was really strong, so we didn't go out past where we could stand up, and we definitely didn't go out in the water on our own, but it was incredibly fun. The waves would come and I could tell they were going to be huge, and they just crashed down on me and most of the time, pushed me down. It was super intense. Because the waves were so strong, I think I will be digging little sea shells out of certain places for a while. :)
Today was DEFINITELY a good day.

Yo necesito mas pilas para mi camèra

I was bored last night when I couldn´t sleep, and I made this.
Yeah, I know they´re not pictures of Costa Rica, but I miss them, so what´s the difference?

Pajaros, vacas y flores.

These birds steal sugar packets from the coffee area. They're really cool.

This morning, I saw these cows, and I got a little too close to them, and the dark one, the one in the middle, almost charged me. I thought I was going to die, seiously.

After I took these pictures, I realized I looked like a table cloth in this dress.

This is Ross, one of the really cool people I've met here in Costa Rica.

An awesome flower. :)

This is Brandon, Judith's Grandson. He's super cute.

Karaoke, nadando, y una Heladeria

Friday night, I went to a karaoke bar with some of the other students and Marietta, one of the teachers at CSI. This is Marietta singing karaoke.

This is a public pool in the neighborhood. When we got there, I couldn´t believe how dangerous a place this was for children to be playing, so I had to take a picture.

This is the Heladeria. or ice cream shop, owned by my Tica familia.

Gina was my Tica mama when I was here last year.
Judith is my Tica mama this year.
Judith and Gina are making pan casero, a truly wonderful pastry with queso (cheese) and azucar(sugar) inside.
They bake it in this oven behind the store.
