El perfecto dia con los animales pequeños.

On Wednesday, I walked with my class to a hotel down the road where they keep and rescue monkeys. They rehabilitate them so that one day, they can hopefully return to the monkey troupe.

Awww... a baby monkey!!! She was looking for her caregiver and wouldn't look at the camera.

Here, she's reaching for her caregiver.
After I held the baby monkey, one of the other monkeys jumped on my head! Unfortunately, there is no picture. :(

Did I mention the hotel also has baby raccoons?

After the hotel, we walked to Playa Langosta, named for the fact that there are a lot of langostas, or lobsters. Also, there's a lot of pretty cool volcanic rock. And LOTS of shells.
This is Lya and me standing on some of that volcanic rock. :)

I have no idea what this is, but I found a bunch of them and they were so cool! They were about a centimeter long, and were swimming in the layer of water on the beach last night.

I don't know if you can see, but I have two of the amoeba -like organisms in my hand.

After i found the amoeba-things, I found a bunch of sea snails!! They felt really funny on my hand. It tickled. I named him Fred.

Other than spanish, this is what I learned yesterday:
These designs in the sand, which can be found everywhere, are not actually made by shells and rocks being dragged along the sand by the receding water. The designs are actually made by sea snails! I figured this our when I put back my sea snail friend, whom I dubbed Fred, I proceeded to wach him bury himself under the sand, and begin making a design in the sand similar to these.

I have yet to discover what might be making these following designs in the sand.

After I put back my friend Fred, I found two sand dollars! My day was complete. :)

What a beautiful sunset. :)
